In reply to <a href="https://emmerichfinancial.com/strategic-planning/what-you-must-ask-about-your-strategic-planning-process/#comment-33">Shane Tiernan</a>.

Thanks for the great question, Shane! As a member of Roxanne’s team, I’m happy to share with you that we teach that goals are the outcomes you want to achieve, and the strategies are the specific details for how you will accomplish those outcomes. Further, it’s critical to ensure that focus with the strategies is on outcomes, not activities, and that those outcomes are specific and measurable, as that is the surest way to ensure your strategies hit your goals, which ultimately support your strategic plan. Happy strategizing!

Thanks,

Roxanne refers the difference between strategies and goals. Can you give specific examples of what you would define as a Strategy and what you would define as a Goal? For instance in our bank we have four specific strategic areas of focus. Financial, Customer, Internal Process, Learning and Growth. Within those strategic focus areas we have additional strategies such as Revenue Growth, Shareholder Value etc.

We then identify goals with action plans that will contribute to achieving the strategy. All that said I'm wondering how Roxanne would define Strategy and how she would define Goal to validate whether or not we are just identifying a bunch of goals or we are on the right track with strategies

Thank you
